10 Explosive WWE Takeaways: Jey Uso’s IC Title Loss & Roman’s Reign in Jeopardy

Longstanding sports writer and Pat McAfee Show Relocation member, Jerome Kaboly, does the breakdown of Friday Night SmackDown and Monday Night Raw by his 10 takeaways.

10:

Hardly knew Yeet: Fourteen years for four weeks? You clearly have to empathize with Jey Uso who lost the Intercontinental Championship to Bron Breakker, just a few days after getting it from him, especially with all the pageantry that accompanied Uso’s first solo title. Ugh, he is probably the most loved cop in the club and for him to be beaten in such a manner with outside interference from the New Bloodline must have trailed off all the crowd souls. Yet, let’s not look backward, but forward. As of now, Uso has designated family affairs and mending the relationship with his cousin Roman Reigns and brother Jimmy Uso to him before taking down Solo Sikoa alongside the new and stronger New Bloodline every week. The Uce will not look at this break as the end but as a transitional pause.

9:

Roman no longerReign-ing?: The Reigns era of the longest non-interrupted reign of a champion came to a bitter end at the time of 1,316 days and was the fourth-longest title reign in WWE history. Besides being the most prominent player in the last decade, he has been humiliated and manhandled by the guy right now, that caused him to sneer when people have said, he may eventually get to the throne as the Tribal Chief. In the previous two weeks, they have attacked and humiliated Reigns even as he was trying to reconcile with this brother by admitting him as the Tribal Chief. Worrying yes, but don’t take it as con to Reigns. With this long, the New Bloodline’s hold may grow even tighter. If it means having a rough time for a short period of time is what is to happen to Reigns, maybe until a possible Heyman return or the Jey Uso recruit, then it is okay.

8:

Don’t provoke me like that: It might have been just a five-second experience but it will always be something I’ll remember that was really worth it. In the Intercontinental Title Match, Jacob Fatu climbed over the barricade with systematic movement and then slowly approached Breakker and stood directly in front of him, which possibly could have been the loudest crowd pop of the night. Yeah, Uso’s suicide dive was the cause of the break but please, don’t tease me that way. I am not sure if there is any beef between those two people, but let’s pray that there can be one. Would you be shocked if there was a face-off between the two Ivonnes?

7:

Powerful moment: Reigns telling Sikoa that “I told my dad I’d fix this” while he was attempting to bring back the family together is probably the strongest indication of Reigns’ real motivation to reunite The Bloodline and also the reason why Reigns has not been as powerful as he used to be. Reigns’ father, Sika of The Wild Samoans, died in the summer. Reigns’ brother and tag partner, Afa, passed away not long after that. “After everything we’ve been through, everything we’ve gone through in the spring, everything we lost in the summer and we stand here divided like this … I want paydays coming from the heavens.” Wow!

6:

Mental overload: Raw announcer Wade Barrett said it as “bedlam, mayhem and chaos.” He might have played it down what actually happened during the Tag Team No. 1 Contenders Tournament match between The New Day and Authors of Pain. Here is the sequence of events that took place in the one-minute or so time frame. R-Truth assaults the Miz which enables The New Day to kick out and thus continues in the tournament. Kross, along with AOP, then dumps Truth while Woods keeps Kofi from helping his teammate. The Wyatt Sicks come in and take out Kross and AOP. The Miz skips through all the commotion and ends up not being beaten up until Uncle Howdy shows up. Nonetheless, Uncle Clue gets his first on the fellow Miz, yet, Paul Ellering shifts The Miz to the side and thus Howdy does his Mandible Claw maneuver on him. Whew. It might have been just a bit too much to consume at one time.

5:

Gunther’s dismissal: Another week of Monday Night Raw and another promo from the World Heavyweight Champion Gayhearner who only needed to use five words “OK, El Campeon. Good for you,” when Damian Priest interrupted his question with Jackie Redmond’s response, referring to Priest’s decision to ascend to the world title after Crown Jewel. First of all, he spoke for a longer period of time before that and included the claim that Cody Rhodes is just a fake, which was a good point too. One thing is becoming more and more evident week after week, which is the fact that Gunther is getting to the next level as a Superstar.

4:

KO is right: Kevin Owens recorded a promo from his car because he is still banned from WrestleMania after the assault on Rhodes a few weeks ago. Owens said that many WWE Superstars have been purposely disrespectful to the management and got away without being disciplined. He is right, no doubt. Owens strongly believes that the corporation does not value him, therefore, he was left alone by the company. It’s all good, they are not even trying to hide it. Or what else could it mean when Randy Orton was told by SmackDown GM Nick Aldis that he can’t have a match with Owens because those “up above” made the decision?

3:

Pressure ramped up: If the aim was to remove any doubt about how much Seth Rollins and Bronson Reed loathe each other: Mission accomplished. The three separate incidents that were set apart by hours seemed quite odd at first glance, but it was strongly communicated that they only have mutual hatred. They are slated to clash at Crown Jewel where the room for misinterpretation as to the type of match it will be is quite limited. Any other than the sheer brutality is bound to be met with a sour eye or at least not exceed expectations. Reed is made of that. Rollins has come into the ring just once after WrestleMania. Is Reed claiming the advantage in this competition?

2:

Is Rhea in need of assistance?: Damian Priest is out there chasing the title picture, thus, Rhea Ripley has turned into a lone wolf. Of course, being a lone wolf is an unbelievable feeling for her because she is not only a tremendous talent but has come a long way since her debut. However, she is already at the stage where a buddy is needed (even if that might be a bold move on Raw). She is also going toe-to-toe with the week’s domineering trio of two-male, one-female Elites – ‘Dirty’ Dom Mysterio, Liv Morgan & Raquel Rodriquez. In the situation where she is not in a good place, yet the praise of tournaments and three foes remain, there lacks the one person likely to appear who will assist her in the decision to leave the tournaments.

Odds and Ends: SmackDown was full of workmanlike tag team matches. Street Profits vs. #DIY vs. Pretty Deadly in a triple-threat tag team match; A-Town Down Under vs. Los Garzas vs. Motor City Machine Guns; and Bayley and Naomi vs. Nia Jax and Candice LeRae. … Keep a lookout for Motor City Machine Guns. Even though they are inexperienced in the WWE, they are veterans in wrestling. An upcoming match against #DIY is a show that should not be missed. … Every time I see Montez Ford, my amazement grows. Although he hasn’t yet embarked on a singles run that would be the sprint in the WWE, you have to agree that delay is all that is left between him and his cup of glory. … One of the benefits of a two-hour Raw is that there is not a lot of time for random thoughts. The program maintains a good pace but at the same time it is necessary. With a lot of movement and dynamics, there are no dull spots. … It’s getting to a situation now where I am longing to see Karrion Kross wrestling in the ring. … Trick Williams at ringside again, aye? … The Judgement Day is in total chaos. … Adam Pearce may be the main character of Raw.
